Jack first joined the firm in July 2024 and began his MBA at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business in Fall 2025. He brings a strong foundation in corporate strategy, risk management, and energy innovation, helping bridge the gap between emerging technologies and strategic investment opportunities.
Jack Smith is currently an MBA Associate at Energy Capital Ventures. He joined the firm in July 2024 and returned to academia for his MBA at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Managment. He brings expertise in corporate strategy, risk management, and energy markets to support fund operations, source emerging technologies, and evaluate investments. Previously, Jack was an Rotational Associate at NRG Energy, where he led initiatives in corporate partnerships, product innovation, and go-to-market strategy before transitioning to their trading floor as a Energy Trader, managing wholesale market risk, due diligence, and forecasting. He holds a degree in Economics from Kalamazoo College, where he was Captain of the Men’s Basketball team.
